Silhouette’s Make The Wedding Dress

There are five main components of every wedding dress. Those components are the neckline, the bodice, the waist, the sleeves, and the silhouette. Though many people might believe that the bodice is the most important part of the wedding dress, the truth of the matter is that the silhouette is what makes the wedding dress. That’s because the silhouette is the area that defines the way the bride walks, whether it’s in a graceful manner or a sexy manner. Everything else is eye candy.

For instance, say a bride wishes to wear a wedding dress with a mermaid silhouette. Because of the way the silhouette is made, a bride can only stride so far because the silhouette closes at the knees before flaring back out. That doesn’t leave a lot of room for grace if that’s what a bride is hoping to convey, but definitely accentuates the brides walk if she’s hoping to convey more sexuality.

This is slightly different than wearing an A-line silhouette, which is relatively thin at the bottom but still has more room around the knees which makes it easier for a bride to walk in. This silhouette denotes a more demure bride, and though it can help some brides look a little slimmer, it probably works better on a bride who’s slim to begin with.

There’s also the empire waist and the sheath, both of which can help thin brides have more curves than they normally might and help more zaftig brides define their waistlines and enhance their natural curves. Both styles also offer comfort throughout the day, something that most brides strive for in their wedding dresses to begin with.

Finally, there’s the ball gown silhouette, which offers the most room and comfort of all the silhouette’s and it’s something that every bride can wear. Of course, it also means that the bride should get married in a church that has a wide aisle down the middle, but most churches can accommodate this. The only problem with this wedding gown is that it reduces maneuverability, especially later on at the reception if the bride doesn’t change clothes.
Of course, accessorizing the silhouette is so much easier to do because there’s more fabric that offers more options than any other area of the wedding dress. This is where brides can get creative with their designers in coming up with all kinds of intricate patterns, fancy embroidery, or sparkling enhancements. Many wedding dresses will have that on the bodice also, but the bodice offers limited room to do too many things with as opposed to the silhouette.
No matter what style of wedding dress a bride wants, if she concentrates more on the silhouette than on any other part of the wedding dress, she has the ability to alter the dress to be something special just for her.
